    Is this the end?

So, as many of you know, I live in Bermuda, where property is expensive and scarce, time is money, and money is mandatory....

I get about 90% of my scrap from one place, (scrap is so scarce on a 21mile island) an AC supplier and installer, they stack all of their old units and parts on the ground and every Saturday morning it gets cleared away, so I hit it hard Friday night.

Tonight I borrowed the work flat bed anticipating a heavy haul, drove down to the honey hole..... And was greeted by the site of a 20 ft, 8 by 8 metal dumpster..... That they are now throwing everything into. Effectively burying all the good stuff under tons of units, sheet metal pipping and other crap. Making any chance of getting anything impossible.
I hopped inside and it's not safe or smart to do that kinda stuff....

I managed to drag out a couple wall mounted units, and outside unit.....

Taking into to account that I need about 20 -30 thousand pounds to fill up a container, I have to cover a min of 5000 for shipping costs, loading etc etc,

I have to factor in time, gas, wear and tear etc....,mso I need to gross about 40 - 60'grand per container, and net about 5 - 6 less than that....

In short I don't think it's going to be worth it to me any more and I'm gutted, almost defeated, wicked hard to say that too as I was a Ifn Sgt, and defeat/fallback is Chinese to me....

I already invested in drums, and pad to the tune of 3000 bucks, and a whole lotta time breaking down CP, to the tune of about 1200lbs. Brass, bronze, SS, and all forms of wire to the tune of about another 1500lbs.

Unless I can score some property for cheap (250-350 grand) and really make a go of it, I think this could be my second last post apart from saying goodbye.....

Anyway, that's my rather depressing Friday.....

Hope you all kick the weekend off better than I did, HAH!
If it's not bolted down it's mine, if it's bolted down and I can pry it up.....it's still mine....

Actually if I were you, I'd talk with them and see about taking over for their metal processing. You might score it, you might not.

Thought about it, I just need allot of space, and I would probably have to go full time scrapper.... They generate allot of waste, tonnage, and it would be a full time job breaking it down.

I agree, they might be getting charged to haul off all their metal. There would be your in possibly by showing how you could save them money.
You should have made a deal with them long ago instead of sneaking in there on Fri. nite. Good luck with what you figure out.

BDA what about your current location? Are you not able to keep alot there? Even if you were able to store a conex box or open hopper or something, that'd be enough to get you started and they generally hold 1-2 tons of metal. Heck even if you tack welded a box together would get you started. Just foods for thought.

WoW what a heart breaker. That said don't give up with out a fight. You do need to make the correct contact and talk to them. now with prices low is the time.
