Hey guys, I'm piling up some boards from everything I can get them from. Plan on trying my luck selling them for the first time soon but was wondering do buyers still take them if they're cracked or snapped in half?
I got a few that broke thru out snapping stuff off of them so was just curious. Thanks

With low grade boards it's expected . Anything else and its probobly devalued at least . Prob best to ask whoever your selling them to for a definitive answer .

Broken boards has never been a problem for me. The few that I have sent in were never commented on. Think about it 1/2 mother board is still a mother board. Mike

Most boards will be broken to be processes, so technically if you aren'the removing anything from the mix then no. Some people won't look at it as a mix and you could lose something. Best bet, call your buyer.

A lot depends on the kinds of boards your talking about. There's a big difference between low grade and any motherboards.

The few I snapped in the process of taking odds and ends off were low grade. Just boards from a few old security camera monitors. Luckily it wasn't any of the motherboardsOriginally Posted by Mechanic688

I still officially have to find a buyer. New to the e waste side of things other than just stripping copper, alum. and steel etc. off boards but I've been reading thru old threads for the last 3 months to help get a better idea of what's what with ewaste. It's definitely paid off. I've learned a ton of things I had no clue about before. Heard there's a new place here that takes boards but heard it's only if you have gaylords full. Might have to call and see what they say

Low grade you would be better off to find a local buyer. Mine "used" to pay around .18 which was above shred price and I could take them in with my nonferrous. Haven't checked lately but I'm sure it's probably cut in half on price. No profit in shipping them. We have quite a few good buyers that are willing to communicate. 90% of buyers do not care about broken boards. After all, it is scrap. A lot of people run them through a shredder anyway. You can get a lot more in a gaylord that way.
Always best to check with your buyer, but If they are broken, there will always be a buyer for them.
I agree, low grade will end up costing you in the long run to ship.

If you have enough, you can ship low grade. 2,000 lbs would keep shipping cost per pound low enough.

It would depend on what's on the broken piece of the board...if a broken piece of board doesn't have anything substantial on it to justify it being a Mobo/High Grade and there are quit a few of these junk pieces in your "lot" then the sorter may start a pile of low grade as they are going thru the lot.
