    Barbecue Question

    I picked up my first Barbecue today... What kind of metal are the burner bars?? they are not magnetic... also the entire lower half of the barbecue encasement is non magnetic... its painted black... any idea what that is?? its not aluminum.. too heavy to be.... please let me know

    Are you sure the black parts aren't cast aluminum? All the ones I have are.

    On grills theres allot of cast aluminum of just steel, but if they are not magnetic and all just hit it with a file. to see.

    Hi,bottom of bbq non magnetic is cast-aluminum, often the cover is also cast-aluminum. Make sure to remove the screws and handles, to get the most money for the cast aluminum, if you leave magnetic screws, you'll get mix price .10 - .12, if cleaned .45-.60

    The last grill I scrapped was cast aluminum. It's heavier than one would think aluminum to be.

    Also mine had brass fittings. Check yours and separate.
