24' Starcraft Aluminum Boat Too Good To Scrap???

TOO GOOD TO SCRAP ???

Just picked up a 1973/74? Starcraft Chieftain 24 foot aluminum boat on a tandem trailer.
Name plate reads: Model 24 CH 4X I/O Capacity: 1950# max persons and 2500# max weight with gear.
I bought it for scrap but having second thoughts, it's a good looking boat.
I personally don't "do" boats, don't fish, don't go boating, don't really care for the water. So cutting it up for scrap really wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.
I do however appreciate history and quality and giving every last working/useable part a chance to continue a useful life.
I already have too much "stuff" with a warehouse overflowing with items waiting for new homes!

Condition: last registered in 2012. Boat was parked because of engine issues, V-8 inboard, 188 hp., engine appears to be unbolted/ready to pull.
Upper/lower unit and props are gone. Still has power trim pump and rams. Hull and floor appear to be solid. Trailer tires are dry rotted.

Specs. I have found so far are:
Weight is between 3395 and 3671#.
Engine is possibly a 302 Ford.
Year is 1973 or 1974.

Throw it on your Local CL.. It is boat selling season!! You may not make a killing on it with its "issues" but you should be able to sell it for far more than scrap value!

old Starcraft = leaky rivets.

Take your garden hose and squirt a good amount of water into the bottom of the hull. Then watch from the outside for drips.

Edit: old BluFins are also notorious leakers. From what I have heard, Never owned one.

How much to do think is actually Alum?? If you can get double the Al amount or maybe even 50% more and not have to do any work, I'd sell it...

A lot depends on your area. Down here, you would not have paid a penny for the boat. Maybe the trailer, but they give away old bots for free all the time down here. The trailer should be a worthy resale.

punch a 1 foot square hole in the side of it and call it the SS MINNOW and put it on eBay as a replica.

Seariously Maybe you could trade it all for something else that you need or would rather have. Something smaller of the same value.

What is the value? The reasonable value of the trailer if usable for custom trailer. Parts off the boat and value of the scrap minus the time and expense of scrapping and getting rid of what no one wants.

Some one with the room might want it for a playhouse or such and the trailer can be made into a utility trailer of some sort.. I doubt that many would be interested in it as a floater.

load it with fireworks and gasoline and set it ablaze Viking style for the 4th of july just make sure to get insurance and no one gets hurt lol jj sell it or scrap it or turn it into a man cave in your drive way

scrap it- many boats free here in CT on CList. not worth the hassle, maybe if the trailer is not too far gone - those still sell. good luck

Scrapping process has been started. My best paying yard will take it whole after non-aluminum parts are removed.
Decision was made after thoroughly checking over condition of interior.
Interior was "rebuilt" with extensive use of: OSB plywood, grit covered tar paper and aluminum carpet/linoleum trim.
Basically I will use it as a LARGE aluminum dumpster for my next old sheet aluminum load!
Some of the fishing equipment has already been sold.

A little, started removing all the fishing gear, radio, compass, live well, side panels covering the fuel tanks and all the seats that weren't bolted down.
Pulled off this job for now to finish up semi trailer project.
