    Another MOTHER LOAD SHELL CASINGS

    Hi All,

I found another MOTHER LOAD while digging threw daddy's JUNK….Shell casings...Every bullet casing that my daddy ever fired in his life is in this collection. Plastic buckshot casings, 44 mag, 22's U name it. At last count I have 78 - 11” x 8" x 4” Boxes. On the plastic shotgun shells Does everyone toss them is as is or do U cut/melt the plastic off? If that's the case i'm gonna be busy a LONG TIME...LOL

Connie I am noticing that you need to start going through the forum and do some research. I will say it since I see that others are not giving you what you are asking for, which is answers to your questions. Please start helping yourself and if you get stuck then ask. Every thread you started is a question which the topic has been covered at least a few times. The search box is your friend. Or go to a section like scrapping vehicles look at any thread and the. Go to the bottom of that page and there are related topics. With a bit of reading you should find what you are looking for even if the search is not working for you.

Isn't there a forum or two on guns and ammo that you can sell the center fire casings for quite a bit better than scrap? I don't know about shotgun casings...they might not be able to be reloaded.

I'm pretty sure the SMF search will turn up the name of the forum where you can sell casings.

    Good luck!

    Jon.

Gun forums would be a good place to try to sell them or even locally on CL if there are a lot of people that reload in your area they will want them. Popular calibers like 223/5.56, 9mm, 45ACP should sell fast. The 22s can't be reloaded so they can just go in your brass.

Yup shotgun shells can be reloaded but they aren't quite as sought after to reload I don't think.

Old ammo boxes are collectable. The used shotgun shells have many uses besides reloading what is usable. Many will use the bottoms of the shells no matter what they are made of for jewelry and crafts. Same with the other casings. What can't be reloaded can most times have a market above scrap values. Even rim fire cases have a market above scrap values.

I have learned that there are people that are interested in most anything. Just have to know what is what, who is who and such.

I trade/sell many such items by the tote or pound to those I find that are interested.

Call a reloader in your area. You will get more than scrap and they will go back into circulation. If you are really industrious, separate them by caliber, then sell them to someone who reloads. Go to a local gun shop and ask if they know anyone who is interested in the shell casing calibers you have. DO NOT GIVE TO COPS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE AWAY, GIVE TO A LOCAL GUN SHOP.
