Hey I took a pile of dish/direct boxes to the yard and the fella told me to pull the cards for gold recycling. Well I did, but can't see a whole lot of gold. Is there worth in them and do they go with regular boards?

There is buyers around that buys cards, but don't try to sell them on Fleabay or they'll pull your ad and warn you (ask me how I know that). Usually the little square is the only gold on them and a lot of people just cut the square and save them.
I wonder why they block deactivated cards?
I haven't done too many of them, but I've cut the square off of them. I sent a few in a long time ago, but I can't remember who. Usually, my satellite stuff comes without the cards. If I remember correctly, I wasn't docked for cutting them. I just did it to get rid of the serial numbers- I'm paranoid!
Also, Go Blackhawks!

You should of taken the boards out of the satellite boxes.
Also some of those boxes have hard drives in them.
if you are not breaking these down, you are missing a TON of money on them. They are pretty easy to do if you have a security bit set and the $$ for the time is pretty decent...especially with DVR's as they will have hard drives in them that can be reformatted and sold or broken down as well (HD boards are $9-10/lb alone).
Pull the sat cards and clip off the gold square...put it in your gold bucket for all these sort of things...SIM cards from cell phones, small plated items ect you run into. The gold recovery is significant enough to fill a bucket and sell every now and then.
READ in the computer section on this board and LEARN all the types of boards etc...you will be pissed that you have thrown a TON of money away most likely...but won't do it again.
EWASTE is STILL by far the best bang for your buck in terms of space to $$$.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell
The cards sell for about a buck apiece on ebay. I just sold some with no problems.
