    Electric motors

Just took apart two small electric motors. They looked identical, but as I got to the internals, one was pure copper windings, and the other had just a small amount of copper, and the rest was a very brittle lightweight bright yellow metal. What is this stuff, aluminum? I did save it.
    Thanks.

Might have been copper coated over alum.

Always scratch test the windings before pulling them. Also check transformers too before splitting them.
