Would you pay $250 for this?

Seeing what is happening around here, if it has no title, I wouldn't take it even if they paid me $250.00 to do it. If the legal worked out, I still would not give more than $50.00 for it.

She claims it was her grandmas, who has passed away. So the estate would apply for title? Leaning towards walking away from this one.

It's a Topaz or Tracer. It's not a money maker. The Cat alone won't bring 40 bucks. I had a Ford Tempo that was pretty much the nemesis of these cars and I scrapped it long ago. It didn't bring but 155 even with all the goods taken out. Of course prices were lower, but still not worth it. Not even close.

Walk away son. Here I could cut it into 5pcs and haul it across the scale all in the same load. Even at that, I would not give her more than $50 for it. Glad I was only in Boise 14 months, it sucks. No offense, just my opinion.

It is more trouble than it is worth without a title in my opinion.

Idaho citizens must be stupid. Got another call to pick up a car. She sent a picture, (it's a decent car that I can probably resell instead of scrapping) and I asked what she wanted for it. We settled on $100. I asked if she had a title, several times. Oh yeah, yeah I have it.


So I drive to East Boise from Nampa. And the moron doesn't have a title, but a registration.

I walked away, but told her if she gets a title together I'll come back.

Well first of all what do u get per ton?That will tell me if it is worth 250 or not.Also that stuff has to have a title that sucks lol.Here in ky just have to have a title if it is 10 years old or newer.

I can understand why they require a title. Otherwise anyone could load up cars and run them into a yard before anyone realized it had been stolen.

Was quoted $190 a ton, or $300 for complete cars.

If you cut that up into many pieces, there won't be a problem. I see a few of you mentioning Boise with scorn, is there a special law or regulation that would prevent even this? I brought my yard a whole bus in many pieces, no one said anything about needing a title.

I don't have a torch. But if I did, I am thinking by the time I got it cut up small enough that my time and expenses would not be covered.

But for sake of discussion, how small would you cut it? Take it down to the doors? Cut it in half? Doors and roof?

I just know Pacific REQUIRES a title, in MY name, unless the guy I spoke to doesn't know anything. Even the shady yard requires a title, but doesn't have to be in my name.

You don't have to use a torch, get a set of wrenches and take the car apart. Throw the pieces in a truck as you take them off. This is a lot of fun to do, as you don't have to worry about breaking things, or scratching the paint. Also, you can remove plastic and cloth at the same time.

I wouldn't mind doing that, but what about the shell? It has a VIN, it's still obvious it was a car, or would they at that point take it as scrap?

Thats the part you need to cut up. But you can use a Sawzall, you don't need a torch.

I used a sawzall, not a torch. Only used 4 blades.

Only 4 blades? What part of the door did you cut to get it off? I actually tried beating doors off their hinges with a sledgehammer. Didn't work so well

Yeah if your only getting 190 a ton then no it isnt worth it
