    insulated wires and plugs?

I have been separating out the wire that I'm going to turn in leaving the insulation on (power cords, phone wires, ext. cords, wiring harnesses, etc... mostly stranded wire). Will the yard care if all the plugs, wire nuts, tape, etc... are left on, or should I remove them.
    Thanks!

It all depends on your yard. My yard personally doesn't care. Try bringing in a small load with plugs and see what they say.
There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer

Yep...up to your yard. Mine has separate prices for both.

The yards that don't care aren't paying the best price..the ones that care pay better.

Mine doesn't care because they ship it overseas to be processed. And they pay pretty well too. $.80 last time I checked

I look at it like this. I am presenting a product to sell and I want my product to look as good as, or better than, the next guy's product.

They tend to remember this, and after awhile, they realize that your load doesn't need the "Japanese inspection"

I agree with c4f5, the guys hardly ever put the magnet in my buckets any more because they have learned that I am honest and conscientious and take pride in what I've done. I'm still a little torn between taking insulated in 'cause taking the time to strip really pays off, like Mick and some of the other more experienced scrappers have told us over and over. It's just that that bucket get heavy so much faster and it's hard not to go ahead and take it in. I sure am eyeballing those strippers ya'll have been posting, tho....waiting for a consensus of the best one. Have a good scrappin' day !

I have boxes piled up in my bathroom, full of wires. couple hundred lbs easy. saving for a trailer load to bring to a yard that pays a heck of alot more than local yards to me.

Low R will mean Low Recovery. I'm still trying to sort out these matters myself. The yard I use rates insulated wire at either 30% or 50% recovery and pays out accordingly. If they receive unsorted, it will all pay out at lowest rate.
