    Old Electronic Typewriters and Print on Roll Calculators

    Hey guys,
    Just joined here. I've done a bit of steel and aluminum recycling before (last car that took a crap I broke the block down, cut out the piston sleeves and had a huge block of aluminum) and regularly pick up steel scrap off of Craigslist after my day job (I work at a bank and it's funny the looks you get showing up in a tie). Anyway, my bank has been clearing house and has two large electronic typewriters (found one in an ad online from 1982 if that date helps) and several large boxes full of old calculators that print onto the little paper rolls. These are going to be hauled away with a bunch of stuff by the bank for disposal but I was told I can take them if I wanted. I have never scrapped any electronics before so I was just wondering if they would be worth my time and/or could make me a buck or to.

    I cannot speak to the calculators, as some are collectible but I suspect the vast majority are not. However, typewriters are very collectible and can be sold anywhere from $10 to hundreds depending on condition and make/model. I have sold a couple on eBay for a fair price and been satisfied. Shipping can be a booger but the buyer pays it if he/she wants the machine.

    BTW, welcome to the forum. You might want to go to the "introduce yourself" thread and post a short intro before someone yells at you...

    as haras said...BOTH are collectible....use EBAY as your friend (solds) and it will tell you if you have some goodies or just the crappy ones. If crappy and no one is buying...there are very little in the typewriter (ie shred)...alot of the OLD calculators actually have some pretty nice boards in them (if REALLY old)...otherwise, they have maybe a small green board and a brown board.

    Check Ebay though...I bet someone will want something....even units as nonworking for parts sometimes.
