always confused about seperation

Hi to all, I just had a ? about the square wire that is found in transformers that is coated with the varnish.It can be removed pretty easy with a chemical dip, does this make it #1 ?. thanks in advance for any advice.

All the transformers I've done I have not seen square wire. Every yard is different. Take a sample in to them cause one yard will classify the varnished as #1 but usually it's #2. Usually only about a dimes worth of difference between #1 and 2. The difference in price would not pay for your time and chemicals.

the only square wire I have seen was Aluminum

Is it the insulated wire between the copper or alum from transformers out of microwaves? if so, #2 wire

I took several 55 and 65 pound transformers apart last year and the copper wire was square with the varnish on it.

It sold as #2.

I would sell it as is.

I guessed the square Copper wire came from a welder too.…..

The 2nd option would be a 'Isolation transformer'.

Both of these items can be found around for cheap, auctions, clearouts, yard sales etc.
Technology's catching up and Invertor welders are cheap and RCD's do a better job than a isolation transformer.
And old Welding leads are full of bright coily Berry Copper wire...
