Wire stripper repair

I have a drill powered wire stripper I got off of ebay 5 or 6 years ago. The drive wheels that pull the wire thru the unit are pretty much worn out... all the grips are worn down... has anyone had the same problem and have you re-cut new teeth into the drive wheels? if so, how did you do it?

I was debating on upgrading my unit but I don't get enough wire to justify it... altho I might talk to scrap yard and see if they will give me a deal on larger Tech cable.... someone who works there already buys a lot of the romex and does it himself at home. They don't strip the wire at this yard as it is a feeder yard... it is owned by sims metal.

When I've worn out my stripper I just get a new one

I have been looking at another drill powered one.... It's pretty cool... can run 2 wire + ground wire thru it and all the wires will come out stripped. just have to peel the insulation like normal after running thru the unit

I bought it on ebay and I have had is so long that Ebay erased all contact info and such from where I got it. I also was not able to find it on ebay... I might be able to use them from a different manufacturer

if you have a dremel and a steady hand you can grind in new drive grooves with the small metal cutting disk.

slow and steady, don't try to get the full cut in one pass.

if no dremel all is not lost. as long as the rollers still keep the wire under the cutting wheel grab one end with vise grips and run like hell

Lol that is what I am doing now.... sometimes it will pull the wire on its own power, other times I have to pull it thru..... worse comes to worse, there is always a utility knife.
