What to do??? Reduced Pressure Backflow Regulator

I have come across a Reduced Pressure Backflow Regulator. Wilkins Zurn 975XL to be exact.



Best way to maximize profits? Take apart and scrapping? Pretty sure that it's mostly brass. Or trying to sell as is. eBay, Craigslist? Thank-you!

That said ... you would probably make more selling it on CL or ebay. It could be a hard sell though because it's a specialty item.

Personally, i wouldn't put a used backflow preventer back into service but that's just me. Somebody else might not have a problem with it.

Well if its new they are selling on ebay for $100+. But yes, an introductory is customary.

You might want to check and see if it's somehow marked as being lead free. The earlier ones have lead in them as part of the brass alloy.

The older ones aren't legal to use anymore. If there's one installed between someone's home and a public water supply it's supposed to be pulled and replaced with the newer kind. Same goes for the older brass water meters & shutoff valves.

It's good news for those who make their living in the scrap metal trade. There's literally millions of pounds of brass coming out of service and heading off to the scrap yard to be recycled. Nice opportunity for someone that's in the right place at the right time.
