Load of electric power tools - any good for scrap?

Hi there. Newb question.

I have a box full of power tools, ie drills, sanders, and angle grinders.

Although the bodies are hardened plastic, is there anything inside them worth scrapping?

if any work you can get more than scrap value. Otherwise some yards buy them as motors, or you will have to take the motor out of it...If it is plastic coated that would be the most valuable part.

Yes do check to see if any are working. If you are inclined toward ebay check out used/sold listings and for parts or repair/sold listing. Sometimes just the parts are worth selling. 73, Mike

Thanks all, great advice.

All of the tools have the cords cut off, so I'm not sure if I should resell them in case someone has an accident if I don't fix 'em properly.

Most Yards I know of will accept them Whole as Electric motors even with plastic.

If you believe they work you can record each one and make a good profit. There are companies that will buy them as is and test and record themselves.
You spend $5-10 bucks on the cord and sell them for $40-60 each you can make good cash

Sell them as is and be done with them! Around here some yards buy them as is with electric motors, others have you break them down further or you only get copper content as is.

Odds are they don't work if the cords are cut. Power tools are stupid cheap now days so just toss them in as electric motors and move on.

Three words: turn and burn!

Not a lot of value here. Unless they're something particularly complex and expensive, they're just a motor and some wiring in a plastic case. Don't spend a lot of time on them.

if they are decent brands and not homeowner junk, sell for parts.

I've got an expensive Milwaukee hammer drill that one of the brushes broke. new brush is $35 from them, so I've been looking for one to get one out of...lots of guys like me would buy parts if they were available cheap, even the chucks may be worth something to someone.

I see used & broken Hitachi 9 inch Angle grinders being sold on our NZ version of ebay, Trademe.com
They get good prices & a decient amount of competing bidders.

I have about 6-7 of them that i hope to sell soon. They were intended to be put back together a while ago,

& then i found a Supercheapauto.com angle grinder 2nd hand & was impressed with it & its price. Its flaws did become noticed so on buying another one, those flaws were fixed befoe it got used.
Better bolts & threadlocker to hold the head together, spare set of brushes, decent enclosed face disc guard off another grinder. Better 2 pin spanner.
