Tips For Auctioning Scrap On Ebay

    Hello Everyone,

I'm having issues with selling to specific personal buyer, so I want to give Ebay a few tries.

Does anyone have any tips you wished you knew when you had an auction on Ebay for the first time?

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    -Tidal

To be honest auction seems to unpredictable at this point.......Buy it now with best offer is the way I have been listing everything.......Some people disagree but I have had huge discrepancies on the same item ending within minutes of each other on auction

Thank you for your insight! I do see a lot of people doing the whole "Buy It Now/Best Offer" thing on Ebay. I guess I will see how doing things that way goes.

I agree that you cannot go wrong with by it now. You may just have to wait longer to get paid.
Mike, you mentioned discrepancies on same item ending minutes apart. Sounds like you may be competing against yourself and therefore splitting you buyers.

If anything has potential collector value, list part numbers. I am thinking here of vintage CPUs in particular.

I'm leery of selling scrap on Ebay. Once I heard the horror story of a fellow board member here who sold a bunch of cut gold fingers. He spent a long time cutting and collecting them to sell on Ebay.
Buyer (read scammer) washed the gold, filed a complaint with Ebay that our honest member sold him "washed material" they D.B. got the gold AND all his $ back.. our member got "Da Shaft"
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

My advise is go slow, start small. I prefer buy it now for used parts so I don't get any surprises. When I do list using the auction I have a start price I can live with if it sells for that amount.

The buy now/make offer type listing are no ones I do. I think that with the make offer option lowers the valued in the eyes of the potential buyer. 73, Mike
