Lets say my local yard buys #1 insulated wire for $1.10 a pound.
I'd like to make a offer to buy 5000 pounds from them.
I've never bought from a local yard, so I defiantly don't want to
overpay. What would be a fare offer to make, so I don't piss
the yard off. TY

First, it would be important to determine what they consider #1 insulated. Does it include romex? Is all THHN (spaghetti wire) included? Is it a certain gauge or thicker single strand wire? Once you know this, you could get rough copper percentages from the internet. Do you know if they process thier own or sell as insulated? Do you know if they use a broker? What can you sell bare bright for? Alot of questions need to be answered in order to give you a ballpark. To give you a rough idea of a low end, look at Rockaway Recycling prices. Make sure you look at prices for electricians. Now add at least 20 cents a pound.Originally Posted by phillg
Most yards have contracts for insulated wire and must fulfill those contracts so don't be shocked if they turn you down. You may want a 5000lb load but what about next week and the week after.
In the past I had good luck buying computer towers from a small local yard but they closed. 73, Mike

Even in this day in age there are several street commodity's and professions that only deal in cash.

#1 copper, copper water pipes like type L and m ect sell for $2.80 I can buy a pound or a thousand for $3.00 a pound all I want. I got a box of about 50 1/2", 3/4", and 1" fittings for like $10 the other day. Most still had retail stickers on them all where new never installed.
Can that be topped. O and I need an eBay expert bad 8n the Denver area. I have a hook on an eBay item that is sold by a few sellers only because they can sell cheaper than anyone but each other. So I am told. I can purchase this product for less than 1/5th of what they are asking. Surely myself and the eBay guru can bank.
Even a remote eBay seller would work just as good. All I need is a text with how much of gauge and texture and I'll go buy it pack and ship it.
Figure out fair percentages.
