Been a while since I scrapped a lot we use to burn transformers for the copper since we can not burn what do we do with them are there any premium over just tossing them in with the Steele?

For the most part, yes.
First, I would talk to your yard and find out how they buy them.
Second, not all transformers are the same. There are aluminum wound, copper wound and some with both copper and aluminum. In addition, some have a metal cover over the transformer, which reduces recovery rates.
I deal with a handful of yards and they are all different. One buys as copper bearing. Obviously, they don't get them. Another yard buys them as electric motors, regardless of composition. A third yard checks these and electric motors. Copper motors have a category as do copper transformers. Price is the same. Aluminum motors go as dirty aluminum, aluminum transformers go as shred, currently 136 a gross.
Now, if you have large quantities of copper transformers, I would talk to your yard, you should get a premium over electric motor price.
