How effective is the scrap metal trade section?

I was wonderin about posting a ad up there in NC i havnt seen 2 many from NC however i didnt look threw all the pages. I mean i think but not 100% sure everybody thats on this site already recycles there scrap themselves so why would they post a ad on here not craigslist. Hopefully i was clear enough for what i was asking. Another question what do yall think bout me(since im inexpierenced) buying auto/truck batteries or old/broken appliances? Good idea or not? If so what could i reasonably buy em for and still make money?

Hi youngen. Peruse the forum, and read read read. Answers to your questions are there. There are lots of threads about buying and selling batteries and appliances. Also, this forum is growing and can be found in google searches. Best way to get your name out. We're all friendly here, but you'll find most of us more agreeable if you contribute to the site more than just using it to your advantage. Enjoy!

First off, welcome to the forum. Here is a thread already started on this subject
    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...teries-in-Bulk
Personally, I just took in another small load and got $45.00 for 4 car and 1 lawnmower battery. Check with "your" yard to see how much they pay per lb. Mine was paying .30 now their .28 per lb. for batteries. Might have to drop the price I pay,,,,People on the forum do both as far as appliances go. Free is always better.

Welcome young, Saroro was so kind to welcome you and give you some guidance about how to use the forum. Then you just picked up on one sentence and seemed to be offended by it. Others HAVE taken advantage...but they don't last long... If you really are a scrapper and really want to learn from more experienced ones and also share what you know...you've come to the right place.

    Very well said Dee!

Welcome to the board Youngscrapper. I often have thought about the question you asked.
As far as Craigslist I found it a waste of time, others may have had better luck. I don't search for scrap like I had planned on, as my scrap is a byproduct of my work.

Good luck, much scrap info within!

People are a bit on edge these days because of all the new spammers and lazy question asking.

You will have something to share. Hopefully soon you can post about the great day you had after taking in a load of scrap. That is sharing as well. Good luck in your endeavors, and I hope to see that success story here soon.

    What she said.

Sorry Young. I wasn't trying to be offensive. Just trying to offer some helpful advice. We've had many people come in with no introduction, firing of questions that can be easily answered with a little searching in the forums. Just wanted to help you ease in better by saying our regular members are more accepting to those that make an effort to form more of a relationship with us, than those who are just in for a quick answer or expecting us to work for them. That's all.

So welcome. Hope you stay a while. Chime in, learn, teach when you can, and enjoy!
