    Need ideas on ways to remove several truck cabs

    This is a rare case when everyone on my crew cant figure out a way to safely move several truck cabs without causing more property damage then we want.
    The issue is the truck cabs and several half of cars are in a wetland area and we have special permitting in place from the DEP to cause damage if needed but were trying to avoid this. I have attached several images below but was wondering what everyone's recommendations might be for moving them.
    I cant use the rollback due to only 50 ft of cable and several curves in the path or I would have used the snatch block and winch cable extension but thats not a option at this point. I don't have a skid steer on hand (at another location we do but thats 500 miles from me).



    As some members on here might remember this job was posted by Scrapbabe97 a few years ago and I currently I hold the contract and all state licenses as requested by the property owner. We can cause damage if needed, cut any trees we need to (I also hold the timber rights), but this is our last year as were down to the last 50,000lbs of metal to remove and already shipped out 80,000lbs over a year and half with more here at my lot 2 miles away now waiting on the crusher to get here. The cabs and cars were left for the last things to make it easier.

    Any advice or ideas will be welcome. I have dealt with jobs larger then this but due to my cousins actions in that area I cant bring the forklift close enough in there to grab them. Also note that theirs a small stream right next to that which is the reason im being more cautious as a cemetary is right off to the right 100ft as well.

    Also the last two cars are just showing the age of the cars ill be grabbing with the forklift. The lot is alot cleaner then those images were a few years ago. Theres also a Model T, 1920's Dodge brothers car and a 1975 Ford F100 cab not shown.

    Also for any member or anyone visiting wondering yes I carry a $1 Million Dollar Insurance Policy on this job and currenlty only my crew has permission to be on the lot as requested by the property owner, but we do get the occasial neibor who stops to talk.

    Sorry for the long post but wanted some other opinions on this before I hook a rope, snatch block, and chain to my truck and pull them out that way. Also forgot to mention that the toyota will have its front end cut off in a few weeks once the snow melts. As required all vehicles will be crushed within 3 weeks of removal to comply with city and state requirements as were not allowed to pull parts off these.

    I may have a skid steer available to purchase but I didnt make up my mind up yet.

    Since I have been asked we have the following permits on the lot:
    Industrial Stormwater Permit, Junkyard Permit (as required by Title 30-A of Maine law), my recycler license, and solid waste transporter license for all trucks and trailers being used. We also have a contractor with a Class A license available if needed.

    The images below were taken April of 2017 so alot has changed since then.

    Honestly seems like a lot of trouble for some steel that doesn't weigh that much considering prices

    I don't see much there, but if you insist, can't you rent a Bobcat by the day? It's probably cheaper than bringing yours from 500 miles away.

    Some if that is actually worth more than scrap ... from what I see, the front clip of the Dodge Town Sedan would sell for $100 - $200 ( depending or how much rust there is on the bottom ).
    The driver side read quarter panel is about $200 for the Dodge Coronet ( depending on damage and rust ) .
    The gauge panel out off the Toyota Truck sell for about $90 on Ebay.
    The mirror off the Ford Ranger is about $75 on Ebay .

    How much classic iron ended up shredded ?

    by the way the post was written it appears that all the metal had to be crushed

    Unfortunately its not a private property job where we have permission to leave the cabs as the contract states everything has to be removed with the exception of trash and tires. If the dodge had been over just another 100ft it would have fell out of the crush zone but were being forced to crush it down with the rest of the vehicles and metal without saving anything.

    The crushers scheduled to be here in a few weeks for a load of cars and metal as well, I hate to crush older cars with good parts but this lots closing anyway in a few weeks and this was the last job to finish before I cancel my junkyard permit with the town and return my recycler license for this lot.

    The fork lift will be on site in a few weeks to remove some large pieces of metal weighing over 300lbs per section and that will be used for the cars using the crushing forks, and the cabs will most likely be filler so they don't have to come out in one piece if they cant. The problem we had with using the fork lift is it weighs over 20,000lbs alone so that's a no for that area. The black cab fell apart last year so that one dosent count. But like I tell everyone I cant beat the price of Free for over 2,000,000lbs of metal and just having fuel cost, insurance which was only a few hundred, and a few employees to pay.

    For anyone wondering the stuff including the cabs is only going 2 miles up the road but the fork lift is going 40 miles each way as its from our Lincoln lot opening in a few months being used for construction of a new building.

    Also I just noticed I never took a picture but in front of the cabs before the small swamp is a pile of metal, and then wood which I have a burn permit pending for that will be getting removed as some of the first items this year. That will leave a 200ft section of open space for the tractor but no trucks can get close due to the ground being unstable. That pile of metal is 3/4 #1 iron which I cut a deal with the scrap yard to get $175 per ton since its all prepared and ready for pickup at the yard.

    I will most likely update the post with images as the cabs and cars are removed if I can. But the skid steer is sounding better and better every day since its the first thing we mentioned at the board meeting in january when discussing an updated plan and time frame for the permits which run out in October of this year, and I can get a discount on the rental as im related to the store owner. Ours is in vermont at the moment on a job.

    Also for RLS0812 with both yards we were forced to crush over 80,000lbs of antique vehicles and antiques alone with more still to go. I crushed a 1956 Ford F600 out of there last year and a 1972 Chevrolet Wrecker with Holmes Body. This also may not be all the vehicles its just whats been found. I delivered a 1938 Plymouth front end to the scrap yard last year. Were know if its all the cars when start logging on the lot.

    Also forgot to mention before theres no floor in the green cab I have a red cab there in better shape leaving in the 3rd load out this spring once the 2ft of snow left melts.

    I'm seeing all torchable on the spot. Torch @ the corners, flip the roofs and hoods, buy a $100 snowmobile for the day. Sure is lot of "back 'splaining" going on... makes me wonder.

    P.S. I know I'm going to get my head bit off for this... but if you're playing Big Shooter, sounds like this one got messed up from the start? This might be a "what I did wrong" future post

    I did consider torching them before since my torches are already down there but I have to wait for a few tanks of oxygen to be delivered since I ran out at the end of last year. I'm also waiting to get the rescue saw off our Bangor office so I can get the Black cars front end cut off since were not allowed to use the torches in that section due to a collapsed house less then 50ft away.

    Theirs less then a weeks worth of work left at this point and we can start cutting trees and sending them to Lincoln and Baileyville to our buyers. I can say we cant wait to be done there since we have a another job to finish up as well 3 miles from this one at an old farm which was delayed due to the snow in December.

    A few cut trees in order to remove this trash seems like the best for all involved...

    atv with trailer. generator and sawsall if torch is not an option
    Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

    Timing is important. There won't be that much environmental damage if the ground is still frozen. I would get right on it though because we're going to have an early spring this year. The job could turn into a mud mire.

    Agree with Matt .... jenny,sawzall,atv, and a trailer. If there's still a couple of feet of snow left make some runs back and forth to pack it down to make snow pack. With a bit of luck it might even turn into an ice pack on a cold night. Maybe rig up a sled out of an old 275 gallon fuel oil drum cut lengthwise ?

    Cut down a few trees and build a wood bridge across any streams that are in the way ?

    I usually just pick up my O2 tanks at the depot nearby. I would imagine the tank lease is with Matheson Tri-Gas ? They've got a few locations. Used to be one somewhere in Bangor area where they refill the tanks and dispatch the delivery trucks ?

    Just possible ideas.

    I'd rent a tracked skid steer with a grapple. take in a demo saw to make one cut down the frame where a tree has grown thru. grab it and go
