    How to Disassemble Copper Inductors

    Hi All,

Ive received about 2000 (roughly 800lbs) ferrite core copper inductors from my work as scrap. Ive gone through about 100 by hand and Im getting tired of un-winding. Any tips or tricks for getting the copper off these bad boys?

    Thanks!

How much would a yard buy them as is? As they are on ferrite you could put them in a cloth sack and smash it with a hammer use a magnet to remove the steel
    Better than the dump!

The ferrite inside is super thin. So thin that it flakes, so Im only interested in the copper winding. I think the cloth would get torn up but Ive thought about smashing them in a bucket with a sledge. I live in an apt right now so I'm limited on my ability to just go whacking at these.

You can cut them, nips, hacksaw\vise, sawsall depending on size. I'd take them outside in a pillowcase or old towel and smash them on the tar or a rock with a hammer. Take all of half a day to smash and pick 800 lbs

There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man

Weigh out a pound of them as is and then a pound of then clean and figure out if selling them as dirty would be worth it, take the cash and move on.....
