Newer landfills that have liners at the bottom of the pit are ok to dump crt's in. Our new local landfill is one of these and they have no problem with me dumping monitors/tv's. If you have any newer land fills that have opened in the last 5 years or so ask them if they accept CRT's. I bet they do.
AZ and CA are distinct exceptions but many states have landfill bans in CRT's because they are EPA-regulated. The glass is lead-permeated which is the main reason you can't add it to standard glass streams for things like wine bottles. Recycling CRT glass is wildly expensive and only a handful of U.S. processors are allowed to do it.
Check your state regs, OP. If they are forbidden from landfill, then your scrapper is probably committing a crime, maybe one which can lead back to you if the feds get involved. Either way, she is not being honest, unless you've met her recycler and can vouch for their process.
