question for denver area peeps RE: tv tubes

Anybody out here have a source for disposal of crt tubes? I have a quote unquote scrapper out here in Elizabeth that's claiming shes breaking the glass and recycling the glass. I

If she is breaking the glass . She has an item nobody wants. She is dumping them some where .

If she found away to do it safely and legally . She does not need to handle crt tubes . She need to patent the idea. She could retire. I call bs .

Newer landfills that have liners at the bottom of the pit are ok to dump crt's in. Our new local landfill is one of these and they have no problem with me dumping monitors/tv's. If you have any newer land fills that have opened in the last 5 years or so ask them if they accept CRT's. I bet they do.

AZ and CA are distinct exceptions but many states have landfill bans in CRT's because they are EPA-regulated. The glass is lead-permeated which is the main reason you can't add it to standard glass streams for things like wine bottles. Recycling CRT glass is wildly expensive and only a handful of U.S. processors are allowed to do it.

Check your state regs, OP. If they are forbidden from landfill, then your scrapper is probably committing a crime, maybe one which can lead back to you if the feds get involved. Either way, she is not being honest, unless you've met her recycler and can vouch for their process.

Guaranteed she's breaking the tube and putting the glass in the recycling bin or the garbage can.

yeah i quit doing them to much of a hassel. got a huge crt that has to go to the hazard disposal place im gona take the copper out of it when we get a flat screen tv to replace it. i figure i mite as well scrap it=0 thats the last one i will do.
