Anyone here has or is familiar w/ CAR Appliance Recycling Certificate in California?

    Hi all,
does anyone on here have a CAR Certified Appliance Recycling permit for the state of California?

How hard is it to get. Seems like a lot of dumbass paper work they want us to create.

If anyone on here has a license or can help with info, let's talk.

    I am located in Stockton.

One of my clients installs appliances and removes the old ones for recycling in San Jose area. Will ask them what they needed

Says the special permit is necessary only if you're the baler/shredder or if you're selling the scrap - specifically AC units and refrigerators - to yards that do not have the permit. It's a refrigerant discharge accountability thing same like most states have and you'd need to get certified for refrigerant discharge/disposal to get the permit. But if you sell to yards that have refrigerant disposal you don't need it.

Well, dip**** SIMS here in Stockton requires all scrappers (except the 2 or 3 that are special) to have a CAR license, which NOBODY has, except the yards themselves. Without they don't take appliances at all.

The other yard who has a CAR license themself only takes non refrigerant appliances FOR FREE and fridges/freezers/ACs not at all.

Believe me, you do not want to do business in this ****hole of a city.
Nothing but BS and PITA on so many levels.

Guy sells to Sims. Only restriction they have on him is minimum weights. So they're prolly just being schmucks to you

Not just to me, but everybody else.
I am perfectly ok GIVING the appliance scrap away. Make plenty of money on the good stuff. But all the guys I talked to aren't getting paid either. Not really sure why SIMS is such a PITA here. Other yards in other cities pay a little, but not enough for someone to pick it up from me and haul it there.

Maybe it's the minimum weight thing, or because he's a corporate account.
