    Question Armatures

I'm taking apart air conditioner compressors. After removing the copper windings I have a lot of armatures to get rid of. Someone said they contain copper, so can't be put with prepared steel. He said to include them with shred, but they're over 1/8/ inch thick and still have the thick casting on. What do I do with them?

Shred.... ive never seen a sealed unit have a armature that contained copper. Sound like they were talking about vacuum cleaner, or electric weedwacker style motors that would have copper wound in the armature

Talk to your yard. You can probably get #1 iron or #2 unprepared for it. Otherwise shred. Unless you got big tonnage the $ difference is gonna be small between the categories anyway
