Oh, yes - the link worked ok I was just wondering if that blogspot was actually part of this site as I didn't see it listed under the Community section above.

I just took bout 4 or 5 microwaves apart today. and what fun i had. but u need 2 be careful when takin microwaves apart cause the capacitor may still have a charge. anyways i got some wires out of em not much but there was one microwave that had copper wire so i threw that in my bucket of insulated copper wire waiting to be stripped when i can afford a wire stripper. i got a couple transformers though to now i just need a grinder 2 get the copper out. and i read somewhere i dont think it was this website but i dont know but u can test the magnatron and if it tests ok then u could try 2 sell it on ebay. iv seen transformers on ebay but i dont know how much luck there havin at gettin em sold so i tore mine apart and got the copper out of it. theres also aluminum on em and 2 really strong magnets.
Just one magnetron pic
I saw in a video that there can be silver Mylar under the key pad.
Just a illustration, i hope it helps someone.
Yah don't need a grinder to get those microwave transformers apart.
Have a close look & you will see the I's & E's are stacked, not interlaced.
Theres a thin weld bead down the side of the iron part of the transformer, that holds it together. The weld & will break if you bash it in the right place (Cold chisel), or you can run a grinder down it to break the weld, then bash & crowbar the thing apart.
Then bash the two copper coils out. Theres some thin iron strips in there too & some fire resistant coated copper wire (that goes into the 'looms' bucket. You can't burn the coating off.)
Rip the insulation off, sometimes you need a knife.

Yep, there is silver under that control panel, its in the white lines. If its black lines, its got carbon in it & needs a different process, so keep them seperated.
Watch for the GOLD plated silicon boards! National genesis II , I think.

Don't forget theres also a motor under it that turns the turntable in most microwaves. Easy pickins & nice clean copper wire, I get #2 for it.
(some don't, I don't know why, the buyers say "Its angel hair wire" & downgrade it. Why I dunno, its cleaner wire than anything else I see except Mulberry. Which is what my buyer wants me to class it as?!)
Don't forget the switches, and if you find a microwave oven with Ali wire, @#&*!, Carefully scrape the wire to see if it is, its probably more $$worth to fix whats probably broken, whiuch is probably the microswitch....
Search more to get the info here.
Its all easyer if you have a bench vise.
I just sold one 1.2 microwave oven that someone put in the curb.
It was just dirty, took me 20 minutes to clean it and put it on Kijiji .
Sold on the first day,for $ 50 .
It is always good to plug it and check if it is working, there are a big demand for cheap microwave .
