Experienced Scrapper
I'm getting a big stand up freezer from a buddy of mine that the line busted on and most of the freon is gone. Would it be worth it to try to fix it and sell it or should I just scrap it? I'm in no hurry to get it sold. I have other stuff to work on. What's the most cost effective?
Eat. Sleep. Scrap.

I dont even mess with fixing freezers and refrigerators, Unless you have the tools to take the freon out, fix the problem and put the freon back in you will probably have to hire someone to do the freon stuff. That in itself will cost more than the item is worth.
I just scrap them.

Agreed. Too many free working refrigerators and freezers out there.

If it's still good looking, you might be able to sell it to an appliance repair shop and retail store.
Is it a home type freezer or a commercial restaurant type?
Former, scrap it. Latter, possibly repair it.
I repaired one and sold it for $1,500

It's just a home type freezer. I'll find an appliance repair shop, give them a call, see what they say, and compare that against what I think it would be worth in scrap. I would of course take it apart to get the most out of it but if I get a good price from someone I'll just save my time.
