Do the scrap yards pay anything for rechargeable nickel batteries i.e. laptops, cordless drills, etc?

I have personally not heard of anyone paying for these. There are places that take them in to be recycled, but will not pay for them.
I used to sell scrap automotive batteries to Exide. At the time, they were taking nickel batteries for free, but I haven't found anyone to pay for them. The guy I sell me e-scrap to, however, is starting to buy lithium-ion batteries from laptops for the contacts, although I haven't gotten a solid price on them yet.
