    Monel?

In searching an answer for a washer question I came across an item called ''monel'' here on the forum.

Nothing on the net tells me how to differentiate other than a slight magnetic pull- how does one know if one has this ''monel'' when breaking something down if it looks the same as regular steel nuts and bolts and whatever else it might be made from? Are monel nuts and bolts only used in certain items? Reason I ask is every once in a while I run across smaller bolts/screws that don't really stick to a magnet but aren't made of brass either and I've just tossed them in my aluminum bucket figuring they were a heavy aluminum or stainless.

I tell ya, I learn something new here every day in searching for more common things!!
