I was wondering what you get per pound out of a freezer at a scrap yard? Also what does an average on weigh? An older lady has a couple and wants them hauled away. Should i strip them and then bring it in or bring in the hole thing?

Most scrap yards won't pay for freezers since they have freon. Up here, they charge $12 to take them. If the freon has been removed, they go as light iron - .085 a pound. If you don't know what you're doing in reference to freon, stay away from scrapping them, refrigerators, Air conditioners etc.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
okay thanks for your help Mick
If you want, send me a Private Message or email. I have something to tell you about freezers that I don't want on a public forum.
In chicago they take them no problem any condition. Considered light metal. .09 per lb.
I might have to run to Chicago with a load, I have 2 air conditioners and and a freezer in the basement. I have some people asking if I can do freezers and refrigerators, but I told them I can't do anything with them. Might have to reconsider.
