    data cable

    My work is giving me data cable. Does this have copper in it or no.

    I think I was used to connect the computers in the warehouse but not real sure

    If it is data cable it should have the large style "phone" plugs on the ends, and yes those would have 8 strands of small solid copper. If it's fiber optic cable, there is NO copper in it.

    As Mechanic688 said...is it looks like a large phone cable..there is copper.

    One way to check...cut the "wire" up and see whats on the inside.

    Data cable should bring $1.00+

    Check out the ends.They might be gold plated.If they are,the're worth about $2.50 a lb.

    Computer Cable manufacturers use pure copper , electrical wire will have alloy copper. Important thought is take picture, the length or total weight is vital. There should be some isa numbers on the insulation. Look the number up and you will learn specifications. Let me know the net weight I may have a buyer for you.
