    Owner of iScrap.

I hope all are well. My name is Tom Buechel and I am the creator of the scrap metal forum and owner at Rockaway Recycling.

As I read the feeds over the last few weeks I wanted to make myself available and let everyone know the things that we are doing.

I want to apologize for the postings earlier this year that were misleading, we did not know how to advertise and we are now in a different place. We are upfront and want to work with people to show them that all startups make mistakes and we are sorry for ours.

While many are mad that there is not a lot of yards posting pricing, know that we are working hard at talking to many of them.

I think that if you talked to many of my existing customers that are happy with the scrap metal forum and have used it with success with their scrappers that opinions would change. Yards such as Cycle Systems in VA, 3 Rivers in WI, and Sikora in MI have been using the scrap metal forum with their customers and are very happy with it.

To answer a few things that have been commented on:

-The app is an advertising tool for scrap yards to stay connected to their customers more. In the last week we have 43 container requests to the yards that are signed up, over 60 What Is This requests, and many log ins.

-The price and setup is not meant for the end user (electrician/plumbers/etc.) but for the scrap yards. Many yards pay for a sleuth of advertising and this is one more form of advertising.

-With so many yards across the US, we have had to call and talk to many to verify that they are yards, thus the reason all yards are not on. We are working towards that and adding more by the week.

-The way that the world is going people want to be more connected, and as a start up trying to tell thousands of peddlers about the scrap metal forum, we are constantly growing.

Anyone is free to email me with more concerns, ideas, or any type of feedback at tom@scrapmetalforum.com, thank you.

    -Tom

Well Tom this is a very different approach, but the first go round is a hard act to follow. Trust is earned.

    Good Morning Guys,

We are throwing a Customer Appreciation Day tomorrow, Saturday November 19th and we are raising money for St.Judes. In July we raised over $2,000 and when we first launched the scrap metal forum we held a silent auction and raised almost $4,000.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes at sometime, and being misleading in the beginning through this forum was wrong, but we learned.

We have had almost 40,000 people download the scrap metal forum, and as the saying goes, power through numbers. We know that many people are frustrated and they want their yards to be listed and post pricing, but as we all know Rome was not built in a day.

We cannot make all yards list their pricing, but what we are trying to do is to connect scrappers with scrap yards all of the time. Eventually many scrap yard owners will realize the benefit of always being able to receive messages and requests through the scrap metal forum and this will grow the market.

Again, any ideas, questions, comments that anyone wants to make off the record of this forum, please forward to my email address, tom@scrapmetalforum.com and I will answer them.

    Happy Thanksgiving to All.

    -Tom

I won't disagree with that. But people are taking the scrap metal forum about being all about pricing.

At my yard people are sending me pictures with it EVERY DAY. Instead of trying to figure out what they have, I can now see and tell them.

We are always in connection with our customers, and that makes my customers more comfortable with my yard.

People will eventually update their prices more, but again, they need to see the scrappers wanting to have prices listed and move from there.

    Thanks for questions.

ive seen a couple of youtube videos that were designed for iscrap, too. where the guys at RR gave some tips and stuff to help new scrappers clean their AlCu rads and stuff. i dont have the app, and ive only seen the two vids they made, but i guess it could be used more if more people got with it. like facebook. if only 5% of people used facebook, it wouldnt be what it has become.

    so i'll wait, too

Obviously nothing is that advanced...yet. But I think that you know what we are saying. A lot of different materials that people have questions about, different ins. wires and so on.

No one is perfect, and it was a knucklehead move on my behalf b/c we did not know that there is no advertising inside of this forum.

Maybe some of you have tried new projects, but when you have a new idea, you will try to make it work, and in hindsight, realize that something was a wrong move.

All we can do is admit that we were wrong and try to prove moving forward that we will not make the same mistake twice.
