I just have a few and they are from very old laptops. I just wondered if I could brake them open?
I researched this but couldn't find nothing.
I just don't want some chemicals splashing in my face if I hit is with a hammer

lithium cells, some copper and alot whole lot of things you do not want to mess with...you are better off selling them to a buyer who buys them whole.
you open them and not careful it will blow up in your face
smart question many semingly harmless materials in different forms can be deadly. silver makes great tooth fillings but in powder form can be as volital as nitro. many things rust, and magnesium is every where but mix the two in powder form and you get a form of thermite, put some on the hood of an old car and light it with a torch it will not only burn through the hood but also clean through the block.
The issue is this...if it holds even a SMALL charge once the + and the - touch...alot of really bad things will happen and if you are not careful it can make one HUGE fireball...I have wanted to make a video on this because once you know what you are doing...its a fun thing to do...or that pesky camp fire that wont start...it WILL start lol.
Now whats on the inside? very thin copper..not worth it..better to sell it as a Li-Ion battery to a buyer buyer (I buy both Li-Ion and Ni-CD and Ni-MH...view website for more details or send me a pm)
