    Computer Towers

Brand New to scrapping, been using it as a way to supplement my income some. I've been doing cans and odds and ends metals for a while. Had a local dentist office offer me ten computer towers and moniters. I agreed to take it to scrap, my question is I've never broken anything down for metals always just dropped everything down as general metal. My questions are:
Will my local yard take these towers?
Are they worth pulling apart? if so what do I look for?
If not will they be taken as regular scrap?

    Thanks, Love the Site....Deputy

All of your questions have been answered in detail in the ewaste section.

For some it's worth it, for others it's not..

Read the electronics section. Iy will tell you how to break down those towers and there are several reputable buyers on this forum that you can sell the electronic scrap to.

Keep reading and you will find it. Our search works fairly well, but after reading and using search, feel free to ask more spscific questions you may have.

Also there are buyers of ewaste on the forum who have been very helpful to us who are new to ewaste. We would like it if you would go to the introduction section and tell us about yourself. Welcome to the forum, Mike.

Will my local yard take these towers?
It all depends on the yard. you will have to call them and see if they do.
Are they worth pulling apart? if so what do I look for?
Honestly, it is up to you weather it is worth pulling them apart and I would start with a basic web search on "computer hardware" and get a understanding on what you are looking at.
If not will they be taken as regular scrap?
Most likely they will, maybe not the monitors, but the towers they will.

I can understand searching with little to no success, I spent 4 hours looking for information on TVs (for those that don't know TVs will not show up on the searches, neither will CRTs, but I found what I was looking for. Also, that is one reason I spell out state names)

This forum is a wonderful tool, but it has to be up to you to pick it up and use it. The members before me have giving you great direction to find your answers and much more. PLEASE Listen to what they are tell ya.

    Good to have ya!

And here is some more to get started on monitors
    http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/showt...6-CRT-Monitors

And here is my breakdown of monitors. If you don't want to mess with the few computers, don't throw them in your steel pile just sell them to a e-waste scrapper around you that knows how to break them down properly.
In our state the scrapyards are not supposed to be accepting them except to recycle properly.
