How many cats does a 98 grand am gt have on it?

I took a picture of the bottom of the car and it looks to be 2 cat converters side by side? Anyone with knowledge of this and if so how much would i be looking at price wise?

I believe the one is a cat but the other is a resonator, basically another muffler. But I could be wrong.

As for the price, no clue I don't deal with cats much.

wow that car looks to be in real good shape. Hope you plan to part that puppy out. I think the only time you get into 2 cats is if you have dual exaust from the headers back. Then I wold think each side would have its own cats. I could be wrong though.

That's why I love this forum, you guys are so helpful I appreciate all the answers so far but I decided to sell this car as a running car because it runs good just need brakes and a title so I'm gonna sell it for 500 bucks(I know I'm crazy, but not greedy) Well i only paid 250 for it, plus I don't have the title but the owner said she could get it if I needed it.

.$500 is a reasonable price for it. Only problem I see is no title but I don't know what the laws are in tour state

    Good luck with the sale.

I have to say doubling your money in a short time with little additional effort is a great return. Congrats, Mike.

I have about 7 people that wants to buy it but I'm holding it for a guy until 12 pm today and after 12 it's up for grabs but I can't waste too much time on this car because I have 2 other vehicles to pick up today although I don't think I'm gonna have time.

great looking sled but in florida no title means crush with out getting caught. ant those pontiacs had very week engines, very suseptable to overheating anf blowing the heads. the cat is a small gm it has only one my guess is arround $ 60. parting that dude out up there in the rust belt should be a winner. I know arround the mid west the value of an old car is based on how much rust it has not how many miles.

I am desperately in need of a sled that runs dont care what it looks like, if any one in the south eastern states comes across one I will take a bus to come get it, it must have up to date tags.

forgot to mention some makes have as many as 4 cats, some fords for example have a small pre cat up near the manifold and a small cat near the center of the exaust system, and a muffler at the end of the system. new diesels have a cat that is loaded with pms and very valuavle, old diesels have few pm and are low dollar, those inbetween have sometimes multipal cats worth varying ammounts. cars such as Jaguar, BMWs are classed as exotic and are at the top of the value list.
