    scrap aluminum

Who do aluminum can recyclers take their cans to? I have a lot of aluminum clamps that are used in MRI's and the scrappers around here want to give me $.70/lb. This material must be as pure as cans if it is allowed in an MRI so I should get the current price for cans. Yes?

You're going to need several tonnes every week to supply to can recyclers. Cans, if I'm not mistaken, aren't particularly pure because of the colouration on the outside, so your clamps (assuming they're not anodized) will actually be better than can price. Google scrapyards in your area for a yard that pays cash.

Shoot it with a gun is it going to be low grade six thousand series or high grade aircraft aluminum 7000 series. It might have other alloys in it to. Just take a sample to the yard and tell them you want them to shoot it with the niton gun.

Are you sure that they are aluminum? When I used to work for a medical device manufacture they made most of their clamps out of titanium. I guess they could be a real high grade alum. like was suggested.

In alot of the medical equipment if have scrapped its contained alot of alum coated brass. Try scratching the surface and seeing if its brass underneath.

If its metal & from a MRI then its worth money just because of that.
They have to use pre-atomic age metals because they don't have a high background radiation count.

I have no idea what the market price of the metals are.
