    aluminum alloys

Hi to all, should a scrap yard pay for different grades or alloys? For example, if I take in 300 lbs aircraft pistons that I know are 2618 should I exspect the same for aluminum siding?

Depends on your yard, I suppose. Around here - aluminum is either Sheet, Cast, Extruded or Irony.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

My yard goes the same price on aluminum, except for above 2000 # and breakage gets different prices

Same around here I'm afraid. I have taken in a large quantity of all one type, and insisted they check it with a gun, and was able to negotiate a slightly better price. From time to time I see folks selling stuff like that on ebay, might be worth looking into as well. Not sure who buys it from there, backyard casters maybe.
