To make it short, I got a wire stripper and try to buy wire whenever I can. Problem with that is what to do with the casings. Ive put it out on recycling night, they left it behind same thing on trash night. Any help...

Put it in a black trash bag and throw it in the garbage or bury it under your plastic recycling so they don't see it lol.
save it up until you get 10 tons then sell it!
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

Sell it. Huh. You wanna buy it?
you got 10 tons?..... I'll broker a deal for ya.....
If he did how much could you get for him? Kind of curious as to where you're going on this.
Assuming it is separated by the types of coating and no impurities about .03 to .05 per pound.
Is that the figure for bulk pricing? I'm guessing that it is.
Yeah, it wouldn't be that much..... I mean, IF your saving it anyways......why not? $600 bucks you didn't have right?
Lets assume for conversation sake he is buying only 12/3 romex(resedential house wire) How much clean wire would he produce wheh accumulating 10 tons of plastic coating?
I think we would need to know how much a roll of 12/3 weighs(wire only) then weigh it after the plastic is stripped. I myself have no idea what those numbers are, but it would be a heckuva lot of copper.
Can u really get paid for the insulation off of wire Jim. I'm not really looking to sit on any kind of weight, just looking to get rid of the coating without paying. I buy insulated wire/cable whenever I can (rare these days) and always had trouble getting rid of casings. I brought it to a yard that recycled plastic, they told me that they were not interested at all, even for free.
HIGH VOLTAGE where bouts in allentown r u located? I used to have a demo company and did a lot of work around that area. Brought most of my scrap to schniders and easton recycling. A LOT
OK. Just looked at your profile seen HVAC. All my work in allentown area was mechanical demo. I was a sub for Worth & Co. (
You can get paid for the plastic insulation copper hound. I wasn't kidding. You just need A LOT of it(which is why no one does it haha).... about 10 tons before anyone will even look at it. Really the only other option is in the trash.
I see 30 yd containers full of it a scrap yards. I never ask them just because I thought they paid to get rid of it. Thanks for your info.
I have found out, that on average after burning the insulation off, plastic coated wire weighs up as 1/3rd plastic coating & 2/3rds copper wire.
ie, from 100 Kg plastic coated wire, you would get 33Kg plastic coating & 66Kg copper wire
(in fact, I probably get 33Kgs toxic polluting plastic fumes, 60 Kg copper wire & 6Kg Copper oxides.. if I'm lucky)
