Well built homemade wire stripper

I don't know the person who made this but I seen it on youtube and figured it was worth sharing

as far as I can see it is homemade. Very good job.

Nah you can build anything with time and patients with basic tools and the right scrap.

Nice looking unit that seems to work well.... only thing I would add is a safety guard to prevent getting caught in the cutting wheel

I bought a cable wire on ebay not very long ago.It looks a lot like that one, but mine is AL thiers looks steel.On the side I can hook up a cordless drill and it FLIES through wire like that video(with a sharp blade).I put it on a 5 gallon bucket and shoot the wire into a bucket on the other side.Only problem I have is my black lab will keep barking and running over trying to grab the wire as it comes out the other side.I dont know why but he always wants to bite the copper a little bit and bark at the drill.

I was thinking on buying a wire stripper instead of sending some of the wire I get out as insulated. Some is well worth stripping and doing it by hand is way to much work and time consuming. I was thinking of building one and thats where I came up with that video, We are all pretty mechanically inclined and have all of the tools needed to do it so I was just researching the types and ways they were built. shootsitall.. does yours remove the insulation as well or do you have to manually do it? The one in the video did it without touching it and it separated it I that that was impressive compared to the ones I have seen.

I really like this design! I have been designing one in my head. I thought to V Notch a Skate Board Wheel, and use that as a wire guide. That way you could do a large variety of wire sizes. I just marked the thread so I can circle back. I think I'm going to make one this weekend! We have 400# of wire to strip.

Thanks thortek like the idea of the skateboard wheel. A v wheel on bearings would make it a bit easier to pull wire.

I'm surprised that nobody here offered to sell a machine like the one in the video. I tried eBay (searched using NiTech and Cablex) and also went to the foreign company (Netherlands or Liechtenstein?) website, but couldn't seem to get an idea on pricing. The machine seems to weigh 35 kg (77 lbs.), which seems fine. I'd love to have one of these or anything even somewhat similar. Anybody have anything for sale or have any ideas. I am not mechanically inclined to where I can build one myself. If anyone has one gently used, I'd even consider buying that.
