    logging chains,tire chains

Forgot to ask the yard the specifics of logging chains. I know cable needs to be in one foot chunks. I have a pile, ton plus of chains that I dug out of recent job. Most are half inch to 3/4 inch links, large chain all in the ten to thirty foot range. I've tucked a few in barrels along the way but I'm a builder, not a scrapper by trade so for me to cut 3/4 and 1" cable into one foot pieces wasn't going to happen I tried a large cable cutter and sledge, ended up throwing it in the waste dumpster. Back to the chain, figure there 3-4oo worth but if it needs to be a foot long it would take 2 days to do such with a torch plus fuel. Is there a standard rule, or could i cut into 4 foot length for prepared number one or leave whole for unprepared. There's an additional 20 full skidder chains that I'd have the same issue.

Call your yard. You may have forgot to ask when there, but these days phones are quite easy to come by

using a metal blade in a power miter saw solves lots of metal cutting restrictions, cutting that cable would been a breeze

    Agreed!

If those are real logging chains and are not in horrid shape then they are worth way more than scrap value. Especially if you have a ton of them! Call around to 4x4 clubs and logging companies.

Farmers could use them too. Craigslist should have them gone fast.

If I was close I'd buy em for shred price.
I'll edit my post. I just looked on cl around me and they have a guy asking a dollar a foot. Now I don't know if that's what he is getting but it is a starting point.
