Forgot to ask the yard the specifics of logging chains. I know cable needs to be in one foot chunks. I have a pile, ton plus of chains that I dug out of recent job. Most are half inch to 3/4 inch links, large chain all in the ten to thirty foot range. I've tucked a few in barrels along the way but I'm a builder, not a scrapper by trade so for me to cut 3/4 and 1" cable into one foot pieces wasn't going to happen I tried a large cable cutter and sledge, ended up throwing it in the waste dumpster. Back to the chain, figure there 3-4oo worth but if it needs to be a foot long it would take 2 days to do such with a torch plus fuel. Is there a standard rule, or could i cut into 4 foot length for prepared number one or leave whole for unprepared. There's an additional 20 full skidder chains that I'd have the same issue.
