Curious on old fridges. I have noticed people saying they have copper alu rads. I had 2 from the 50's in the last 6 months. All I found was a alu freezer box and some copper lines. The rad on the back of the unit was magnetic. So where the heck do you find the copper alu rad?
Cu/al rads come mostly out of a/c's and commercial equipment ie: ice machines, reach-in coolers, that type of equipment. I don't think I've ever found a cu/al rad in a domestic refrigerator and I've done thousands of them.
Ok guess i misunderstood. Just saw a post where a guy foiund one in a freezewr today...so was curious.

look behind the liner of the freezer part. usualy an alluminum rad there.

Parttime is correct, open freezer part of thr frig. all the way to the back, unscrew the panel and you'll see the rad. It's all aluminum no copper.
Happy, the original question was about cu/al radiators. And the correct term would either be a evaporator or condenser coil.
Oh I know about the one hiding behind the alu cover. But there was a post where a guy found one in a swamp today and it had a copper/alu rad. I just tore one down similar...old ge hoptpoint..and all it had was steel rads on the back. So kinda curious. Going over to look at that post...maybe im confused...

Ozzy those old hotpoints go for some nice $$$ what kind of shape was it in? May be worth more than scrap. Check them out on eBay.

i've got a couple old refrigerators but i don't know how to see if they've still got any pressure in them. Is there any way to know without gauges?
Bear, I hate to say it but you're SOL without gauges and line taps. Do you know anyone who has a set?

The 'frost free'fridges have a Copper/Ali radiator in them, its inside the back panel & gotten to from inside the fridge, under a plastic sheet.
All fridges are different, most have a Ali internal condensor & a steel condensor outside.
But theres always exceptions....
