Copper Pipe? and other related items

I've been calling around to check prices. How come some yards call #1 pipe , used pipe with joints cut off and others say #1 has to be like brand new?

So far the best I can find in my area is:

    BB 3.10
    #1 Pipe 2.75
    #2 pipe 2.50
    Mixed Brass 1.70
    Aluminum .50

I have about 300lbs of copper only about 70lbs of BB.. I don't need the $$ but i'm on the fence about cashing it in or holding onto it. I will really need the $$ closer to winter but if the prices are on the way down I should cash it in now. Any suggestions from the more experienced folks?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Copper dropped to 3.05 a pound by me. I had 200 lbs + of bb #1 wire. We actually agreed on 3.15 per lb (it can be done if you do enough business with the same yard). I sold it. Next day it went to 3.25 per lb. Go figure lol! I say if you dont need the cash now, hold out. I think it will go back but not by much more. As far as the pipe, each yard is different. This is a video Ive seen around explaining what this yard in particular considers #1 and #2 pipe . Hope it helps. Thirsty.

#1 has to have zero solder on it...#2 is if it has paint or solder
