I wouldn't have the patience to unwind a whole ceiling fan!!
I cut each loop in the outer ring with tin ships, then use my channellocks to pull the goods out, then repeat with the inner ring.
I'd bet someone has an easier method. Seems a cutoff wheel would prevent palm blisters, for sure.

The ceiling fans, what if the copper is too brittle to unwind? I have some that the only way to remove the copper is to cut it and pull short pieces off, and even then it's very brittle. Guessing there was some kind of electrical short or just the copper's really old. Is it worth it to cut the copper off under these circumstances??
