do you guys think a finders of $50 per vehicle is a fair price when all the person does is ask for the vehicle and my help you steer vehicle on trailer?

Finder fees should be based on how much of you time it takes and what your over head is worth.
If it takes you around 5mins of your time...then $50 is not that bad.
Yeah that sounds fair. That's about what I offer people too, but they're usually too lazy to even pick up the phone and do some asking around.
If you are referring to paying someone to simply go around and search for junkers and talking to the owners, and then saying (this guy wants to SELL), then sure.

yes. i'm offering someone at the moment a finders fee of $50/ vehicle just to line up cars to buy and pick up. But he seems to have the additude that money grows on tree the younger guys now a days have no work ethic and some seem to think that its a lot of hard work just to knock on a door and ask. must be nice to be still stuck on the nip...
You misrepresented the question, finders fee. A finder is a free agent one who works interdependently from you for his fee. By needing his assistance to load the car onto your trailer you have actually made him an employee or partner, your taking up his valuable time when he could be making cold calls - door knocking.
If this young man is good at cold calling and closing a deal getting the car ready for your meager part in this deal, give him more money there's nothing wrong with his ethics. As I see it, it's you that has to work on yours.
maybe you misunderstand and i have not gave you the whole story. i know you live in manitoba but where are you gonna make $50 for no effort and a few minutes of your time. this person is a friend that comes over has nothing to do all day but sleep till 4 or 5 and play xbox all night. i give him an oppurtunity to make some cash just asking for cars cause he wants to tag along. you serious can not say that you would pay someone $100 for a vehicle and you only make $50 when you pay gas, manitance, truck and trailer, meals and drinks and purchase the vehicle for up to $200

Finder's fee
From Wikipedia Finder's fee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the United States, a finder's fee is the compensation given to an intermediary in a business transaction. Usually, there is a causal relationship between the one party and the intermediary (the finder), another relationship between the finder and the second party, and the two parties of the transaction would not have met if it weren't for the work of the finder.
Such compensation is common in business and is regulated by contractual agreements and law in the United States.[1] A finder's fee can also be a gift from one party of the transaction, who feel morally obligated that the profits of the transaction be shared with the finder for making that transaction possible.[2]

Wow, 20.00 is about what I toss out. I barely clear 100.00 on the average vehicle, I am not giving a intermeadiate half of that when I have to keep equiptment running, process and move to my buyer. I may be missing something. If it were the good old days and I was clearing 300.00 a vehicle heck ya I would throw him 50.00 a car. Under our current profit/loss margins that is too high.
