I'm working on constructing my want list for tools, but even now I have a lot - I seem to use all the different sizes of screwdrivers, sockets, wrenches, pliers and hammers I've rounded up already. My question is how do you all carry around your tools? Toolbox (metal or plastic), canvas tote, plastic bucket, toolbelt? I'm already finding things hard to find by just rummaging around in my vintage metal toolbox. Plus, it's heavy.
PS - I do have a plastic box for the socket kit, so those are set.
I have a red toolbox my wife got me a couple years go for our first Christmas married. :) It's just a metal one with a handle an lock/latch. I use that for the tools I use the most. In the shop I have an Old Craftsman toolbox(one of the old 4 drawer ones, and where the top lifts up.)back when they made some darn good products. I also have a four set of plastic ones, I inherited from my father in-law after he passed, from my mother in law, as I never got to meet him, but she told me I was a keeper and he'da been happy for me to have it.
Eventually I'll buy one of those nice tool cabinets, the metal ones you see in auto garages a lot. Matter of fact that day may be coming sooner then later as I got a birthday coming up. Ha!
That's how I carry my stuff. I really like my red toolbox though. Nothing fancy, but it's portable an there is enough room in there for all my hand tools.

I agree on the multitool i use mine alot at my job as a reactive maintenance tech at the factory i work for and i have a ammo box full of basic hand tools i use everyday for scrapn and fixing things. I always have my other tools in my truck i do not normaly need too use and i always never leave home without them
HA! Last week I told my husband that I wanted one of those pretty red rolling toolboxes for my birthday. My father has one, and I've always admired it. I'm positive we can't afford one, but who knows when a used one might turn up?Quote:

An Mick, I keep some tools in the van, mainly duplicates of what I got in the shop, otherwise most of it fits in my little toolbox to carry with me. I don't usually break things down outside the shop/house, but now an then I do, so I drag the little tool box with me. Like on of those old metal lunch pails but longer. Only bad thing bout a van, no tool box in the bed. It's a small thing, an I don't have to run out to the van when I need something while in the shop. heh.
Soon as I get my hands on one of those big wheel having tool boxes I'll be one happy scrapper.

For those talking about a rolling tool box. I picked up a commercial freezer a few years back. Removed the door and store my tools on any number of adjustable shelves. Still would prefer an actual tool chest, but this works for now.
I don't have a grinder yet, but I have a dremel. Does anyone use those for scrapping?
I do..but it died. :( I also used it for wood working tho. Had that sucker for over 8 years, it finally went to the great Dremal resting place in the sky. It was a sad day. It's still in my shop, as I can't bring myself to scrap it. Freaking awesome tool, if your using an actual Dremal an not one of the cheap knock offs. So handy for many things. I plan to get a new one, maybe this weekend when I'm off the sandbar. It was one of my favorite tools, as it could just about anything i needed. Need a saw? Put the attachment on. Grinder? Same. Tool sharpener? Same. Router? Same.
Now I'm sad again. Thanks a lot Jill! ;)
An if nobody mentioned it...Band aids. At lest it's a tool in my box. Lol. I got several of the ones with the magnet back. Stuck'm to every toolbox I have an a box in the van.

Margaritas are a given. ;) As our many other drinks. I love my sandbar, I may complain now an then about the tourists, but..a bad day here is better then a good day anywhere else far as I'm concerned. It's island time, all the time. Which reminds me, I need to add some photos to my album of the snow when it came an covered the sandbar. It was great fun watching big pickups get stuck, while my little mini-van was just cruising along.
An yep it lived a long an useful life. It has a place of honor on a shelf in my shop. I won't scrap it, it was to good to me.

Funny; I guess the old pop-tops were referenced in the song. The new ones aren't so sharp.
I seem to use the Flashlight app on my iPhone more than any other app. There are a ton of free ones. Handy for poking in dumpsters at night, and always with me.
Vise, 6in phillips bits, a secuirty bit set, vise grips,
Paper towels & electric tape for when you gash your finger and want to keep working...

Like some already of said, quality gloves and safety glasses are a must for me. Me and my friend that scrap together like to take safety as serious as possible.
