Under the weather

Ok, so I am just looking for some feedback. I have been toying with scrapping and using it as a source of "spending money" for the last year or so. Also, over the last 6 months or so I have come down with the flu, the stomach flu, bronchitis, and now a sinus infection. I am normally a very healthy guy so all these sicknesses have been a bit of a surprise. Are these 2 things going hand in hand or just a series of unfortunate events? I break down anything I can find, and seem to do a good amount of CRT tv's. Anyone had any issues like this from breaking down anything? Low grade board flu perhaps?

Can't see I see a tie in but I'm not always the brightest color in the crayon box. I do a lot of crts myself and have been doing so for the last year or so. Never any issues. Only been sick when we had the flu raging through my sandbar. But..70 degrees one day and 30 the next with 40mph winds will getcha sick right quick!

You doing your breaking down outside? If so that could be the reason. I do mine in my shop with windows open some, etc. Also..could be picking up germs from the crts..maybe have some hand sanatizer on hand or use gloves if you don't already. I use a cheap pair when messing with crts and such.

Sirscrapalot - Being sick sucks.

Wear gloves and wash your hands often. Ya never know where or what happens to items you pick up from the curb and such. I found a six foot stand up lamp one night and when i got to a gas station I saw the base of the lamp and cord was covered in dog crap. yuck!!!

I have noticed that with computer power supplys. Inhaling a bit of dust & getting that sick feeling, sweating around the eyes/face & sore behind the eyes too.
From now on I plan to dunk the power supply into a bucket of warm soapy disinfectant containing water before scrapping them out. Theres too much copper not to scrap them, for me anyway.

And getting 'the ****z' after scrapping out a slimy fridge... Thats happened too many times.

The worst was when I was walking home with a bag of hot chips & saw a 'wheelie bin' (120 litre plastic, council supplyed, rubbish bin) full of water.
So I tip it over using one had, deciding not to use that same hand to eat the chips. Hell the rubbish stunk, like vomit... ugh.

Five minutes later I forget not to use THAT hand. Ugh, yeah I got sick, badly stomach sick. Took ages to get right again. I brought some yogurt & that helped a bit. Probiotics should have been my choice.

I break down as much outside as I can, use paper masks, gloves, keep hand sanitizer in the truck...etc.

The can kick your butt.

I have asthma, so I'm pretty careful because I end up with respiratory infections fairly easily if I'm not.
