    Tetanus shot

I recommend everyone get a tetanus shot considering how much sharp, rusty metal is out there just waiting to stab us.

I just drink beer if I cut My self.. it does the trick.. but You're right on the serious note. we come across some nasty stuff, and its really important to have peroxidee on the spot and bandage.. even its electrical tape it does the job.

Glad you got your shot and all is good.

My wife wants me to get a shot for stupidity. Anyone know where I can get one. I can't be the only one with this problem, well maybe. And maybe rabies shots, my dogs have chased out four skunks, one raccoon, and a badger in the last month.

Any neighborhood health clinic. Much cheaper than getting anything done at a hospital. I learned that the hard way. Needed blood drawn for a blood test. Opted to have it done at a hospital because of a timing factor. What would have been $10 at the clinic ran $200 at the hospital. BCBS insurance didn't pay it. And that wasn't even the Emergency Room.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Just to note, it is good for 10 years unless you cut yourself. Then it is 5 years.

Well then it's safe to say everyone on here is covered for 5 years.

I got a fresh shot last year when I stepped on a nail while chasing a rooster.

    These things happen...

Yea..being up to date on the tetanus shot isn't hard for me. I usually do something stupid to require one right before or after the last one is no good.

I got the scars to prove it. lol.

Does anyone know of any tetanus (lockjaw) cases in the last 100 years....? I know we're warned of it, but I can't say I've ever heard of a case.
On the other hand, I know a few loudmouths who could use a good case of lockjaw

Who knew my wife read Art of War...

As for tetanus... nasty stuff. DO NOT jack around with it. Not only will your jaw lock up, but in late stages you spasm so hard you'll break most of the long bones in your body.

Guess I should find her a copy if we make the Blackberry show. Just so she can torment you on the way back with quotes.

I heard you can also break your backbone, from the wracking around with spasms. Shots make me faint, but better to faint than the alternative.

In order to survive a tetanus infection, the maintenance of an airway and proper nutrition are required. An intake of 3,500 to 4,000 calories, and at least 150 g of protein per day, is often given in liquid form through a tube directly into the stomach, or through a drip into a vein. This high-caloric diet maintenance is required because of the increased metabolic strain brought on by the increased muscle activity. Full recovery takes 4 to 6 weeks because the body must regenerate destroyed nerve axon terminals. -Wiki

    Who knew?

Apparently rusted surfaces provide a good environment because the bacterium is anaerobic and the metal oxidizing provides a great porous and low-oxy environment. Which makes me wonder why they made me get a shot when I had lead and concrete injected into me...
