I won't find a picture but once, I took my wife to a petting zoo, for the goats of course. As she was being mobbed by a bunch of baby goats, I happened to look around the petting zoo. Behind is this big tree with cool branches, a pretty awesome tree. On it were goats. Walking all around, doing goat things.
That's when I see one goat over near a bucket at the top of the tree(bucket is there for you to put treats in, you then get it up to the goat an he'll eat the treats). I guess the guy below said goat didn't give the goat enough treats cause that goat pee'd on him. From way up in a tree.
It was hilarious. He didn't think so, but everyone who saw it did. A true LOL moment. Even a ROFL moment, if it wasn't for the huge puddle of pee.
I was kinda on topic. Oh an good pee chart! Drink your fluids people! It's hot out there, well lest on my sandbar it is.

I have firsthand experience of being too dehydrated while doing scrapmetal....
It actually took me a couple of days. The spot where I was getting my metal was a 1/2 hr walk from my home, so 1/2 hr walk, 2 hrs picking out scrap, 1/2 hr walk home with it on my back, then scrap it down, catch some sleep, a 3/4 hr walk carrying the cleaned and separated scrap to the actual yard, then 1/4 hr walk to use the free internet connection.....
And during that time, not much to drink..... Well not enough anyway.
So, I'm using the internet, feel a little unwell, go to stand up and find myself on my back. My friendly life saving 'Angel' calls me a ambulance... (No not as in.. *pointing* at me and saying "You, are a Ambulance"...)
And gee, I would have loved to just fall asleep, sooo peacefull, but pH operator says "Keep him awake till they get there".
So, well its obvious its dehydration by now, hospital check me out, tell me to drink more liquids, ask me a whole bunch of questions to see how I got to this point.
I get $50 bill in the mail a few weeks later for the Ambo. We have 'Free healthcare here in NZ', the $50 is what pays for the driver of said Ambo.
So, indications?. Yep coloured pee. Also, feeling thirsty. And, when you do drink water, you pee right afterwards, but when you do, it dribbles, you have to stand right over the toilet and it falls downwards only.
Also, it at that point may not be dark coloured.
Where I was scrapping, it was not hot weather at the time, so I was sweating only while working, but still staying cool.
In the last few hours I did not sweat at all, this gave me the impression I was not needing water.
In reality, my body stopped sweating to conserve water, also I did not feel hot while walking, this is the body fooling itself into not sweating. This, is the big indication that something's really wrong.
My lips felt tingly, probably lack of water, if your lips ever feel tingly, its a sign of some sort, stop and find out why.
If I had stopped and drunk a litre of water 1/2 way thru all of this. I would still have got dehydration to the point I passed out.
My body would have just used that sudden influx of water to wash out the unwanted waste urine substances.
It would not have actually hydrated me at all.
You body looses this water over time, and your body takes it up over time too. A sudden influx just gives it a chance to catch up on its functions, not the overall stableness that the body needs.
If fact I have read of where a dehydrated person got a lot of water at once, drunk several litres and then went into shock/unconscious because they had depleted their salt levels to the point where the brain cells could not communicate.
The answer is really to take the environment into account, how hot and how dry it is. Under 0°C is freezing, there's now no moisture in the air, as you breathe out you expire moisture and take in no water, so more chance of dehydration when its cold.
How long you are without water, how much you sweat and what you eat. Eating something with not much water in it is going to absorb moisture from your body.
Watch out for not sweating when you should and tingly lips. Keep up the salt input too.

I prefer Advil, but yes! A glass or two of water, an hangover be-gone.

Seriously, stay safe out there. You only got one shot at life, don't screw it up by being to lazy to drink a glass of water, or to prideful cause your a "tough guy scrapper". I'd rather someone give me a hard time over drinking water then a bunch of Paramedics lecturing me on not drinking any.

Besides the color of your urine turning a darker shade of yellow, other signs of dehydration you may experience is: fatigue, dry skin, muscle cramps, a craving of sweets, headaches and a very dry mouth. So drink water before you experience any of these symptoms, I have found coconut water to be a good source of staying hydrated as well. Any thing that is super sweet (cola's) or contains alcohol (beer) can actually dehydrate you!
I give coconut water to my dog. Helps with his skin an fur!
So not only will you be hydrated, your skin an fur will look nice.
I had to start giving the beagle that due to being allergic to fleas. Irritates his skin an such, an the water helps out with that. I forget the brand, but it's not very expensive an does have other health benefits besides just being water. Oh an it helps with Hang overs. lol.

I am extremely guilty of letting myself get dehydrated, not during scrapping usually, but during metal detecting Many a day spent in high humidity, 85-95 degree weather, with too little water available. Not being prepared can hurt you long after that day is done. This winter while detecting the beach in full waders, I had many days where did not drink enough mainly because of the hassle of leaving the beach and getting undone in the porta-potty. Easier to just not drink and keep detecting. Always a mistake, but hard habit to break.
I found out the hard way and I'll tell you that it scared the s**t out of me.
Cutting grass in 95 degree temps is not good and a 64oz big gulp coke will not keep you hydrated.
I realized there was something wrong when I stopped sweating and sat down to rest and couldn't get back up.
I keep water with me all the time now. If I'm working in the heat I can easily drink 4 or 5 bottles of water in an hour.
It is very possible to get dehydrated in cold weather just as fast as hot if you're working hard enough and you have to eat a truckload of snow to get just a little water.
Been guilty of this for many years, been put on my ass a couple times and the migraine associated with severe dehydration is certainly no fun and something I try now to avoid heck I'll drink from about any water source from hoses and *****ets?? (outdoor faucets) to a few known mountain streams near jobs that are worth taking the risk if i get desperate enough.

This is true with one exception any alcoholic beverage of under 3% can actually re hydrate or so I've been told. In 19th century farmers would drink weiss bier and work in the fields all day.

Advil works best for me, or any ibuprofen.
As the wise Nutpie said tho...whatever works for you. The important part in all this is the water intake. Hangovers result in dehydration, so drinking a couple glasses before you sleep will lessen that the next day, an not make one a miserable
bastard to deal with. LOL
