Crazy cat ladies for sure. It would take an awful lot of them to be worthwhile though. (Cans, not crazy cat ladies!)

Pet stores not such a good source. I managed apet supply store for 8 years. There are nearly no stores that still carry dogs and cats and when they did wet food was rarely used. It can create a mess going in and coming out. And any manager worth their title writes up and sends busted cans back to the supplier for credit. One option you may want to try however is humane societies.
I just asked at my yard, and they take the aluminum pet food cans at can price ($.55 per lb, currently) if you take the labels off. Much better than sheet price.
My parents have two fat cats, and they save all their cans (pop cans, pet cans, tin cans, etc.) for me. It works out pretty well.
My mom has a bunch of cats, every 2 weeks the recycling bin is full of steel and aluminun cans (she takes the labels off when she rinses them out so they don't stink). And every time they get put out for pickup somebody comes by and takes them before the truck shows up along with the aluminum pop cans (pisses her off but I don't care as long as they don't make a mess).
However, to get back on subject, I suppose one could talk to their local humane society about picking up empty pet food cans. But I imagine that they would be hesitant to separate the cans from their regular trash for you, and like pet stores, they'd probably be more inclined to purchasing dry food.
We have 6 cats and buy canned food for them.....I just started saving them about a month ago...want b long till I have a barrel full.....all the extra coins I can make is fine with me
Not that I would bother with cans but I did read a while back that 73% of hoarders were women, who were mostly also pet owners. Just food for thought
LOL,
I was looking for metal behind a store, three months ago,
and a car drove up, opened the door while driving, and chucked a small cat out!
So I walked up to the poor creature and she was a beautiful kitten, (I think it's a "she" but don't care to look any closer),
Meow!Meow!
Loaded her in the car thinking I'd find a home...when I got home my three year old daughter said, "Oh daddy, you brought me this cat for my birthday???" ,"It's the best gift EVER!"..."Ummm...well YES, it's for yur B-day"
Dang cat is driving me crzy!!! I've had it in my truck since friday to avoid the hurricane sandy that finally blew through,
Now it's cold and she loves being in my truck ...
Off-topic slightly , but there's a petstore along my route, and there's always tons of broken open bags of cat-food and dog-food ,
which I take and give to all my buddies who have dogs or cats...
I told them where it comes from and they say ,
"Who cares, it's a dog, it can eat from dumpster, THANKS!"
Just my thoughts is all.
