Been gone awhile, glad to see you are starting to have some successes! Just like the scrap game, on the Internet, if it doesn't àlready exist, start it yourself! Just hauled a 200+ pound large rack filing cabinet (non-fireproof) I got for free from a real estate company from my local group. Washer last week, an oven the week before. All free! Sometimes I resell on CL, sometimes I scrap. Haven't posted my ISO ad recently, that reminds me.....

Look for "for sale" with your town's name in the FB search area mentioned above. Most towns around me have something! Good luck.

I've been looking around. Try "flea market", "yard sale", "garage sale", "tag sale", "estate sale", "bargains", or "stuff". Good luck

BTW: if you have any successes, feel free to add them here.

Just got three mountain bikes and a broken bed frame two blocks from my house FOR FREEEEEE!!!
I love it when that happens.

My local CL group covers 6000 square miles. HA! That's NOT local at all.

This method is still VERY successful for me. I'm known as the appliance and e-scrap guy now. 90 percent if the stuff I get is free! Check for local FB groups! Follow instructions from beginning of this thread. I'd use a PC, not a phone. Good luck!

Picking up 6 old IDE drives, a PS2 and PS1, and some other gaming equipment from a guy that posted on my local garage sale site. Going to see if he has any other computer related stuff and give him my business card. It's worth a shot.

i personally have been using facebook for the past year searching it has yielded very good results. I have a "Cookie Cutter" Add that i post and all i do is change the names of the towns and the dates i will be heading to them and then ppl contact me and by the time im done (list up to 2 weeks in advance) i have between half a load and 2 loads waiting for me. This is how i was able to take loads in 4 days a week. Now if someone messaged me with enough to make a load on its own of course i would see if they would want me to come sooner and on those occasions i would pick a day that was slow and go make myself some extra money.

I use facebook a lot for hunting the treasures of scrap. Past an ad and let it do the work. It keeps me busy and try to stay within 100 miles from home.

Another word to add to the search list is "free" or "freebies". I'm just a lurker on some of these groups, but I'll PM people with stuff to get rid of.

Word is out on me locally, others actually tag me when people post "free" metal. Also joined a local thrift store group and an "environmental awareness" group that I thought would be a bunch of hippies. They've been a great source for stuff and buy treadmill motors for wind power! My main competition in town doesn't "waste his time with all that Fakebook crap". Fine by me.....

Wife does the facebook groups, have gotten a few items off the groups, but we generally use it for selling.
It got to the point she was asking me every few days If I had this item or that appliance... she really got into it $$$, and I had to pick up the pace on fixing things up for selling..
always nice to see some of this stuff get used again many times they were getting tossed because they were "old" not necessarily broken.
There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man

You might also include some searches like "flea market", "for free", "neighboorhelp" etc.
