Yea, you need to look at what he has. I would show up with all the money I could scrape together and make an offer on any of the boards I was sure of. The boards with "silver" I would be very careful of. If you can find a silver test kit it would be worth while to take it with you. I have yet to find boards with a lot of silver on them but I believe others have experience with them.
Depending on what this guy has it could be worth while or not. Don't pass by an oportunity. Mike.

Matt, have you tried posting this in the scrap room to see if there's a member who would be willing to partner up with you on a deal like this? I thought there was going to be an area in the scrap room for stuff like this but I've been wrong before!
PM sent
well, I made an offer and it was accepted. just have to come up with the cash. I am talking with JohnM about partnering, but the logistics of money transferring may take longer than I have to complete the deal. But it will happen one way or another.
It turns out that the "silver recovery boards" are server boards without gold fingers so it is a lot simpler than i though.
You do have a point, I am only an hour away and if its worth my time, I just might be interested.
I guess i better update this.
After talking the guy down to 750 for what turned out to be about 450lbs of boards, My friend and i spent all weekend doing everything but taking a metal detector outside to find our scrap piles in the snow.
We came up with the money and drive out there to pick it up, then bring it home to sort.
We decide to drive it out to Ohio rather than ship it, because the gas and shipping was about the same and we wanted to meet Mario.
I figure our expenses were about $250 for pickup and delivery
It turned out to be:
16 lbs X $6 telecom grade
280 lbs X $5.25 telecom grade
16 lbs X $5 telecom grade
29 lbs X $4 server boards
60 lbs X $4.15 low grade pin board
4 lbs X $14.75 tin ram
1.5 lbs X $5 eproms
40 lbs X $3.65 motherboards
Looks like this worked out quite well. Congratulations!
Nice job Matt..glad you did well on that.
